COMPOSTING

| What compost starts at & the end result |
One way we can limit our waste is by composting green waste. The green bin that gets picked up by the garbage companies can contain good scrapes, coffee grounds and filters, soiled cartons, leaves and grass clippings. The material is sent off to a processing center were it's shredded down and left in piles for it to cure. I think if people were more conscious of the things they bought at the store, they would be able to reduce their waste. For example, instead of buying Styrofoam plates get biodegradable paper plates, Styrofoam doesn't decompose through a natural form but paper plates do. Another thing people can to to reduce their waste is by making sure they are using the appropriate bins to throw away their trash. Always ask yourself; Can I recycle it? Is it biodegradable? Will it decompose? These are important questions to ask yourself before you throw away anything in the garbage.
